Neurogenic Tremoring

Neurogenic tremoring is the body’s natural way of releasing deep muscular tension, calming the nervous system, and restoring balance. It is a gentle, innate reflex that can be activated through simple physical exercises and postural adjustments.

Many mammals in the wild shake or tremble after stressful events — this is their nervous system’s way of resetting. Humans have the same built-in instinctive mechanism, but in our modern lives we often suppress or ignore it, treating it as a sign of illness, weakness or loss of control.

Neurogenic tremoring is beneficial for most people, helping to reduce stress, tension and pain and improving body awareness, emotional regulation and the ability to remain calm during challenging situations.

How it Works

When we experience stress, overwhelm, or trauma, our bodies unconsciously tighten and hold protective patterns. Over time, this can lead to chronic tension, pain, poor posture or a nervous system that feels stuck in “fight, flight, or freeze” which can be felt as anxiety or disconnection from self, other and the world around us.

Neurogenic tremoring works by reactivating a natural shaking response from deep within the body, originating the the brain stem and spinal cord. The tremors often begin in the hips and pelvis (specifically the psoas muscles) and can reverberate throughout the entire body, traveling along the spine and throughout the fascia. These gentle, involuntary tremors help to discharge stored stress energy, soothe the body, and bring the nervous system back towards balance. The process helps soften chronic tension in the body, shift old patterns of resistance, and anchor new ways of being—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Unlike other somatic practices, neurogenic tremoring doesn't rely on your voluntary nervous system. The practice doesn’t require effort or control. Instead it taps into your autonomic nervous system, the involuntary part that also handles core bodily functions such as circulation, digestion and respiration. We simply create the conditions, relax and let your take over, allowing the tremors to move through your system in their own rhythm. In this sense, neurogenic tremoring is built into your biology, a form of evolutionary inheritance that supports integration and wellbeing from the inside out.

Working with Me

Neurogenic tremoring is a safe, self-regulating practice that empowers your body to unwind at its own pace. I will introduce grounding and resourcing techniques to create a safe and supportive environment, and will then gently guide you step by step through the process of reawakening this natural response so that you feel comfortable and in control throughout the experience. By going slowly, we re-establish trust in the body’s innate healing intelligence and ensure that the effects are both easeful and sustainable.

Over time, you’ll learn how to access this self-regulating practice on your own, giving you a powerful tool to release stress, restore balance, and reconnect with your natural capacity for resilience.

My integrated approach blends neurogenic tremoring with other practices like breathwork, myofascial unwinding and somatic coaching to create an experience where deeper insights and lasting change can unfold naturally.
